Emily Dickinson is one of my favorite New England poets who lived in the nineteenth century. Reclusive and thoughtful, she seems to have been quite shy. Many of her poems, written on just scraps of paper, were discovered after her death. Another favorite poem of hers, that I like, begins "Because I could not stop for Death, he kindly stopped for me ..."
