Be prepared to have a glass of milk with some of these outrageously delicious cookies, when they are hot out of the oven.

Or perhaps a cup of tea would go well with your cookies.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks), at room temperature
1 cup sugar
Mix first two ingredients together in a mixer, blending well.
Add in 1/4 cup molasses, (at room temperature), and one egg. Beat well.
Mix the following dry ingredients together in a separate bowl:
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
Add the combined dry ingredients to already mixed ingredients, adding a little bit at a time, and mixing until the batter is smooth.
Stir in 1 cup raisins.
small dish of granulated sugar
Cover and refrigerate the cookie dough for an hour or until you can easily shape, by hand, one inch balls from the batter. Roll each one in a dish of granulated sugar. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet, placing each cookie ball two inches apart. Place the cookie sheet in the upper third of the oven.
Bake at 350 degrees F, for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes about three dozen cookies.
