Fields of Snapdragons in the "Valley of the Sun," near Phoenix, AZ
I AM A QUILTER
written and sung by Patricia Cummings
I am a quilter, patching pieces in the sun
I am a quilter and my work is never done
I am a quilter and I'm happy to be me
I am a quilter and my heart is ever free.
I'm free from the cold, as my quilts keep me warm
Free from ennui, as my patches comfort me.
I'm free to make quilts, yellow, blue or green,
black, purple, orange, or any color it seems.
As you can see, I just cannot write a song.
I've been trying to get inspired, all day long.
I've done my best and so now I wish for you,
Happy National Quilter's Day
and many more to you!
P.S. Of course, any "patching of pieces" would not be done outside, today. There is still a pile of snow on the ground and it's pretty chilly. One can only dream that Spring is going to arrive someday soon.
