sung by Patricia L. Grace Cummings
Originally called, "Toora, Loora, Lorra" by American songwriter James Royce Shannon (1881-1946) who wrote the song in 1913, it was incorporated into the New York musical production, "Shameen Dhu," in 1914, and was probably the most popular song he ever wrote.
People on both sides of the ocean wax nostalgic at this sentimental and sweet song of remembrance. I feel that it is a song with the potential to connect generations and for that reason, I dedicate my rendition of it to my new granddaughter, Hannah. Perhaps she will sing it to her grandchildren.

Beautiful Hannah, my granddaughter, at two days old

The late Betty Grace - Great Grandmother to Hannah, and my mother.
