Butterlfy potholder

Old butterfly potholders

The antique set of potholders that we found within a very worn and tattered carrying bag is so unique a find that I decided to re-create them with new fabrics. The original fabrics were muslin (now stained from age and use) and 1930s style butterflies in complementary colors of blue and orange, albeit faded from constant washing.

Your grandmother or friend may have used this to serve her favorite casserole or "hot dish" to a church or Grange supper, or to a quilting bee, thus our name, "Quilting Bee Potholder."
